ROGER CASEMENT

Roger Casement was an Irish-born poet, human rights pioneer, and martyr. Most famously, in the 1890s his revelatory work as a diplomat, exposed colonial atrocities against the indigenous peoples of the Congo in the heart of Africa.

These actions & experiences transformed Casement into a leading champion for self-determination and independence for all oppressed peoples.

In turn, Casement began to focus his efforts on helping lead his own, the people of Ireland, in their fight for independence.
